Overview

GHRP-2 Acetate (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-2; also known as Pralmorelin, KP-102, or GPA-748) is a synthetic hexapeptide belonging to the family of growth hormone secretagogues (GHSs). It functions as a potent agonist of the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R), stimulating the endogenous release of growth hormone (GH) from the pituitary gland. The compound is available as the acetate salt form for research applications and has been investigated as a diagnostic agent for growth hormone deficiency and for the treatment of pituitary disorders.

Mechanism of Action

GHRP-2 exerts its effects by selectively binding to and activating the growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1a (GHS-R1a), a G protein-coupled receptor expressed primarily in the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. Upon receptor activation, GHRP-2 stimulates the synthesis and pulsatile release of growth hormone from somatotroph cells in the anterior pituitary. The compound produces a rapid and significant plasma GH response, with peak concentrations occurring around 15 minutes and not exceeding 60 minutes after administration. GHRP-2 also exhibits a slight stimulatory effect on prolactin, ACTH, and cortisol levels.
